It's been almost 1 month since our baby boy turned 1 so I figured I better share all about his Birthday. Which reminds me, I should share his Birth story at some point - it's pretty magical. Anyways, back to the Birthday.
To be honest, I didn't really believe we'd make it all the way to Leo's Birthday in September and still be dealing with COVID, but - well you know. I entertained the idea of not doing a party at all since he is a baby and doesn't care. My head just wouldn't let me though. I love a good event and those magical moments to celebrate and if Henry had a 1st Birthday Party then Leo needed one too. All that being said, I didn't feel entirely up to hosting and am still uncomfortable expanding our bubble. Which is how I landed on his virtual Pancakes & Pajamas Party. Did you know September 26th is National Pancake Day?!
Brunch is my favorite and what's more casual than wearing your pajamas and eating some breakfast? We invited our family and friends to keep their pajamas on, have a casual breakfast at their normal time, and send us a pic in celebration of Leo's big day. I figured this way I could add them to our photo book for the year and it's be another reminder of just how different 2020 was.
At home we whipped up some pancakes (vegan for Leo!), pumpkin cinnamon rolls, and all the toppings - blueberries, chocolate chips, sprinkles, maple butter... it was perfect and delicious.
Can't have a party without some sort of decoration though, right? It started when I was looking for some breakfast themed pajamas for him to wear and stumbled upon this perfect pair from Magnetic Me. I really loved the little kawaii style breakfast characters and the candy apple red and blue color scheme. I created the invitation in Word using those and then printed some extra out to create a garland to hang with the streamers. It made for the perfect backdrop. I also did a miniature version for topping the pancakes.
After breakfast Leo, with lots of help from Henry, opened up his gifts that our sweet family had sent.
On Leo's actual birthday we celebrated with a vegan pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon buttercream - it was amazing! I'd never made a vegan cake before and wow, you couldn't even tell. Leo was clearly enjoying it!
Happy Birthday Leo!
