As a big Wes Anderson fan when it came time to design our gender neutral nursery it seemed a fitting theme. We didn't want to stick to just one of his films, but rather a variety and make it cohesive by using one of his color schemes. If you're familiar with his movies they're all about symmetry, retro vibes, and specific color palettes.
We ended up going with primarily orange tones with touches of mustard yellow and blue, essentially a Fantastic Mr. Fox palette. From there we pulled in other Wes like features with the symmetrically hung frames, the pillow with the zebra print from The Royal Tenenbaums, fox knobs on the dresser, and quirky touches such as the animal heads.
I wanted a way to display all the swaddles I kept buying, something that made them easy to grab for the day. I designed this swaddle holder, sent the plans to my Dad, and he made it happen.
On a trip up to Alaska we had found these flash cards and knew we wanted them for a future nursery. They tied in so well with the color scheme and made for the perfect border.
