This month for our first month of traveling from home we decided to start right where we live, The USA. We learned how our country is a great melting pot of people from all over the world and about the indigenous people who were here first.
We started out with our itinerary I shared last month and a few books from the library and a couple I decided we should own. How to Make Cherry Pie and See the USA was a fun, silly little read that takes you through the various part of our vast country. The Very First Americans was a great introductory education on Native Americans. We actually didn't end up watching anything we had planned - thats okay though!
We celebrated the 4th of July, read about and colored the American flag, and studied a map of the States. Henry loved seeing where we live on the map and then we had fun choosing where we should someday move.
We ate cheeseburgers, baked a pie, made some deep (ish) dish pizza, and baked chocolate chip cookies - did you know all of those originated in the United States?
This was a great starting point for us and now for the month of August we're off to... Japan!
